AEL’s Managing Director, Edwin Ludick and members of the executive and senior management team represented AEL at the Africa Down Under (ADU) Conference held in Perth, Western Australia, from 29 – 31 August 2018. A melting pot for pro Africa-Australia relations, ADU has become a must-attend event for government delegations and senior ranking officials looking to enhance their respective sectors through high level interactions with key players responsible for driving development of the mining sector across Africa.
Currently in its 16th year, the Africa Down Under Conference (ADU) was introduced to raise awareness of Australia’s interests in African mining and energy. The conference has grown into the largest African mining-focused event outside of the continent itself, and its importance continues to be reflected in the number of high profile attendees. The event sees hundreds of key delegates such as mining executives, financiers, bankers, brokers, analysts, government officials, investors, mining service industry representatives, suppliers, mining consultants and international and local media.
The conference featured over 60 presenters, 67 exhibitors and attendance of more than 1000 delegates from 40 countries; including mining ministers and government delegations from 19 African countries.
Increased delegate participation year-on-year is an indication of the revival of the mining sector which has gained momentum in terms of market conditions and commodity prices.
As service companies play an integral role in the mining sector, the exhibition hall was tailored for companies servicing the mining sector to display their latest technology and service offerings tailored to help mines function more efficiently.
AEL’s stand was designed around our value proposition, intelliBlastTM. As a key-player in the international mining industry we showcased our intelligent blasting products and services in support of our growth strategy in the African market.
